DOD OIG Publishes New Report on Contracting Reform

September 24, 2012

The Office of Inspector General for the Department of Defense just published a updated report for reforming contracting within the Department of Defense. The link to the report is here: https://media.defense.gov/2012/Sep/18/2001712304/-1/-1/1/DODIG-2012-134.pdf

A couple of interesting points:

1.       The OIG does allow for Contracting Officers to approve business systems without the involvement of DCAA or DCMA; However in both cases I have dealt with this has not gone well and actually is costing the contractor more money as they go through the process twice, once with the Army or Navy, and again with DCAA later

2.The report publishes a quick reference guide for the contracting process I found interesting. The areas in red are identified trouble areas the DOD acknowledges.
